ALLEY BOY

This is that ignant shit, and I can say that because they misspelled "hustla".

LIL B x TONY YAYO

Tuesday

SLEWDEM CREW

Our parents would be shocked and appalled.

But we can't help loving grime the way we do, can we?

Saturday

STAR SLINGER

This video beats Kanye's.

KANYE WEST x GASPAR NOE?

This new video for "All of the Lights" has single-handedly
given me ADD. I'm not sure what I think about th

Props to Jdown for pointing out the connection.

Wednesday

RYAN LESLIE

Before and after.
Not feeling the chorus that much,
wish Rozay had actually went on it himself.
---

THE ILLZ

The beat is kind of on some Timbaland shit,
but definitely distances itself from just imitating.

"Why would I want to go back when I'm so near"

YELAWOLF

Friday

TYLER, THE CREATOR (video + mp3)

I want to skip class today and watch this 3,000 times.
The only part that grosses me out is when the cockroach is one screen.
I don't know if that's a bad thing or not.
---
Tyler produced the beat and directed the video.
You have to take these dudes serious whether you like it or not.

Thursday

FREDDIE GIBBS - SOMETHING NEW

JAMES BLAKE x JAMES LITHERLAND (his dad?)

Yo, Internet, shed some light on this.
What the fuck is going on here.
Twilight Zone much?

$1 BIN - UNMIXED & UNMASTERED

Drops Feb. 15 right here.

Wednesday

RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY x LUCKYME

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

Tuesday

GETO BOYS

God bless Texas.

Monday

Gucci Mane x Bricksquad (Re-Edits)

Hate to say it, but I'm becoming one of those audiophiles.
If you say "192kbps" to me, I'll take it as an insult.
---
I need to step my DJ game so I've been editing some
tracks today because, coincidently, a lot of stuff I would like
to play to people are either really shitty quality or off shitty mixtapes.
---
These two are from the Bricksquad Mafia mixtape that just dropped.
I switched the arrangements around in them a little, especially "Immature",
because I hated the chorus it had. The main improvement is in the quality/volume...
---
Don't get me started on these DJs fucking up the sound quality of tracks.

Sunday

FISTS

Always a pleasure to be emailed music that is actually
fun.. and... enjoyable. I mean, it's just nice to be emailed in general.
But when it happens to be stuff that doesn't tear my head off when I play it,
but actually is something I could listen to more than once... it's a bonus.
---

"Stag" is the b-side to the upcoming single "Ascending", which comes out on February 21.

The limited edition single will be available on green 7" vinyl and digital download right here.

Saturday

BIG K.R.I.T.

This one (with the Yelawolf verse) is still getting played
in my Itunes and on my mp3 player every second day.
---

ODD FUTURE EVERYTHING

Friday

MANY MEN

Realized I had a couple different version of this track
in my possession. So, why not make a shitty picture and post them?!
---

HAPPY CAM'RON DAY

Head over to RNT for an awesome tribute.

Thursday

DJ RASHAD & ADD-2

This gets too damn funky for its own good once that bass drops.

---

WISPERS

I go through mixtapes so quickly nowadays it's kind of sad.
It takes longer to download than to listen and delete a lot of the time.
---
When I come across one like Wispers' Ain't No Plan B,
it's like a breath of fresh air. It motivates me to continue sifting
through all this mediocre sludge on datpiff and livemixtapes.
---
This one's so smooth I just let it play through,
not too many skits or any DJ Drama moments.
---
Just great beat selection and a new rapper who's already found his voice.
---
---

M.I.A. > NICKI MINAJ

Always and forever.
---

DOUG HOYER, "OH, THE WIND WILL BLOW"

Doug Hoyer's a folk singer from Edmonton, but if this was just a folk song

I sure as shit wouldn't be posting it and if Hoyer was just a plain old folk singer

I'd sure have looked past his stuff altogether.

---

Clearly, that's not the case.

---

This one was co-produced by Kuhrye-oo,

who's also 1/4th of Gobble Gobble.

---

It opens with a classic drum break sample,

which is then accompanied by... ukulele???

No irony here though, folks.

---

And Jessica Jalbert's contribution to the chorus is just enough

for this to get a million plays on my Itunes by next week.

---

Tuesday

DJ QUIK

Fuck Dr. Dre.
I'd prefer if we didn't talk about anything he's doing
from this point on. Or the past half decade, would be more fitting.
---
Detox is going to be as far removed from that g-funk sound as possible
and that's the reason for the hostility. But thank god Quik still knows what works.
---

SQUADDA B

Obviously, this dude is from the Bay Area.
There's something in the water there right now.
---
I get a lot of different vibes from Squadda B,
sometimes when he's rapping it's sounding like Max B when
he would just go in on a verse instead of singing the whole thing.
---
And though he's unmistakably from Cali,
he's still using his drum hits like a Texan or Detroit producer,
or maybe sampling like a Dipset producer on a sunday afternoon.
---
Point is: every track on this one sounds unique from the next.
Cop it, mellow out. This isn't gangbang, Maybach music.
Thank god for the alternative.

FREE GUCCI 2: THE BURRRTISH EDITION

Been waiting on this one for a few days 'cause they had to fix
up the Mad Decent servers. I guess they knew they were sitting on gold.
---
Going through this album at the moment. These collections always end up
being more enjoyable than Mr. Three Scoops' actual retail albums - mixtapes excluded.
Can someone get his managers in contact with Rustie and Hudson Mohawke already?
---
A real collaboration is well overdue. But these imaginary ones will suffice for now.
My favorite part is definitely that they even got new rappers (like Tinchy) on some verses.

LUNICE

This is just becoming a Lunice tribute blog...
