DOUG HOYER, "OH, THE WIND WILL BLOW"
Doug Hoyer's a folk singer from Edmonton, but if this was just a folk song
I sure as shit wouldn't be posting it and if Hoyer was just a plain old folk singer
I'd sure have looked past his stuff altogether.
---
Clearly, that's not the case.
---
This one was co-produced by Kuhrye-oo,
who's also 1/4th of Gobble Gobble.
---
It opens with a classic drum break sample,
which is then accompanied by... ukulele???
No irony here though, folks.
---
And Jessica Jalbert's contribution to the chorus is just enough
for this to get a million plays on my Itunes by next week.

DJ QUIK
Fuck Dr. Dre.
I'd prefer if we didn't talk about anything he's doing
from this point on. Or the past half decade, would be more fitting.
---
Detox is going to be as far removed from that g-funk sound as possible
and that's the reason for the hostility. But thank god Quik still knows what works.

SQUADDA B
Obviously, this dude is from the Bay Area.
There's something in the water there right now.
---
sometimes when he's rapping it's sounding like Max B when
he would just go in on a verse instead of singing the whole thing.
---
And though he's unmistakably from Cali,
he's still using his drum hits like a Texan or Detroit producer,
or maybe sampling like a Dipset producer on a sunday afternoon.
---
Point is: every track on this one sounds unique from the next.
Cop it, mellow out. This isn't gangbang, Maybach music.
Thank god for the alternative.

FREE GUCCI 2: THE BURRRTISH EDITION
Been waiting on this one for a few days 'cause they had to fix
up the Mad Decent servers. I guess they knew they were sitting on gold.
---
Going through this album at the moment. These collections always end up
being more enjoyable than Mr. Three Scoops' actual retail albums - mixtapes excluded.
Can someone get his managers in contact with Rustie and Hudson Mohawke already?
---
A real collaboration is well overdue. But these imaginary ones will suffice for now.
My favorite part is definitely that they even got new rappers (like Tinchy) on some verses.
