WE SHOW UP ON RADAR

Here's some Sunday afternoon music for your Saturday morning.

---

Last time we heard from Hello Thor they were introducing

us to the great Friday night sounds of the band Fists.

---

Now they've hit us up with Andy Wright's solo act We Show Up On Radar,

who's been making music for those who like to put the kettle on

and have some alone time with your headphones.

---

Last year WSUOR apparently went on a tour of libraries,

which I can picture working all too well with songs like this one.

We Show Up On Radar, "I'll Be A Ghost" (MP3)

Tuesday

P.M.E.R. x KONTRABAND

"On The Road" is labeled as some "light shit", but that guitar
is pretty intoxicating and heavy to my ears.
---
The production is on point as usual and the laid back
delivery from them feels like Curren$y if his voice didn't
sound like my mom's, or Common if he understood rhythm.
(no shots...?)

Sunday

THE WEEKND (mp3 + new album)

Jesus, speaking of automatic posts.
I haven't even finished downloading this album,
which dropped like five hours ago, but I know already
I'm going to be playing this for the next few months to come.
---
I've posted about The Weeknd before, and come tomorrow,
so will your favorite blogs, if they're worth their salt.

MONO/POLY

Superfluous hyphens and other devices are the first things that worry me
when I'm about to listen to a new artist. You know, you find so many
artists with them nowadays on your blogs that you begin to expect
the same tape hiss and crappy drum loops, yet you keep clicking.
---
Mono/poly's music is so refreshing, you can put a triangle in your name,
a cross, surround every letter with a period, capitalize it all.
I won't mind.
---
Mono/poly's sound - the description is going to be redundant if
you read a lot of indie music blogs - comes off as Samiyam-y,
off-kilter drums, glossy synths and shell shock bass (also synthesized).
It's Flying Lotus-y, which would explain his new album, Manifestations,
coming out on FlyLo's label Brainfeeder. It all makes perfect sense.
---
Anyway, just promise to listen until the bass comes in.
Promise, okay?

Saturday

MIKE G

Most underrated of Odd Future, probably will always to be.
He just sits there thinking while the rest of them are breaking things.
---
Produced by Left Brain, expect it on the new Mike G album, Gold.
Also, just realized, the sound quality on his songs are muuuch better than on all the other
Odd Future releases. What's going on here? Who's mixing? Is Syd the only one engineering?

Wednesday

THOM YORKE x BURIAL x FOUR TET

If you now don't believe there is a music god,
I find your lack of faith disturbing.
The pianooo near the end of Ego.
Damn.
---
Think I'm more excited about these two songs than the entirety of The King of Limbs.
---

Friday

TYLER, THE CREATOR (video + mp3)

I want to skip class today and watch this 3,000 times.
The only part that grosses me out is when the cockroach is one screen.
I don't know if that's a bad thing or not.
---
Tyler produced the beat and directed the video.
You have to take these dudes serious whether you like it or not.
---
---

Tuesday

SQUADDA B

Obviously, this dude is from the Bay Area.
There's something in the water there right now.
---
I get a lot of different vibes from Squadda B,
sometimes when he's rapping it's sounding like Max B when
he would just go in on a verse instead of singing the whole thing.
---
And though he's unmistakably from Cali,
he's still using his drum hits like a Texan or Detroit producer,
or maybe sampling like a Dipset producer on a sunday afternoon.
---
Point is: every track on this one sounds unique from the next.
Cop it, mellow out. This isn't gangbang, Maybach music.
Thank god for the alternative.

Monday

JOGGER

Just found this video through my cousin.
Very confused. But that's the power of a good video,
I wouldn't have checked this duo out ever but I was immediately
drawn in by this video and ended up watching it a few times on repeat.
---
This might be tickling my brief interest with black metal from a few years ago.

Thursday

Ghost Houses

"mysterious email was sent to me today by a spooky outfit calling themselves Ghost Houses.

the email contained no info except the track title, band name, and the quote

'VIDEO ET TACEO' which, after a brief google search, I discovered means

'I see and am silent' in Latin and was the official motto of Elizabeth I."

-blackbird blackbird

Peep track two, let it set in.

Wiley, "Electric Boogaloo" (Hudson Mohawke rmx) (MP3)

"REPORT TO THE DANCEFLOOR, HUNNY!"
